MY STORY

Steyn Skyler is an up-and-coming artist based in Amsterdam who has a passion for creating detailed and visually stunning artworks inspired by nature and the female form. From a young age, Steyn was always sketching and even started tagging walls in high school. Despite not initially pursuing a career as an artist, he did follow a creative path as a graphic designer, creating logos and the house styles for a range of companies and night clubs. However, he eventually decided to become a self-taught artist, exploring his own creative vision and style.

You can spot Skyler's art in various places, not just in galleries. He's exhibited his work at well-known spots like the World Trade Center, the Dutch Design Week, and the ADAM Tower. In his paintings, you'll often find a dreamy, fantastical world where women are the main focus, surrounded by Steyn's trademark butterflies, flowers, trees, and plants.

For Steyn, nature is a major source of inspiration, and his work is rich in symbolism. As he has said, "those who find beauty in all of nature will find themselves at one with the secrets of life itself." In many cultures, the blue butterfly is a symbol of acceptance, honor, and great energy, and it is also believed to grant wishes. Therefore, the presence of blue butterflies in Skyler's work adds an extra layer of meaning and significance.

Steyn doesn't limit himself to just painting; he's also delving into sculpting. He starts with a simple digital sketch, then uses oil and acrylic paint to bring his ideas to life. His work often revolves around highlighting the inner beauty and personality of the women he portrays, often surrounded by nature and wildlife. He creates a surreal yet timeless vibe by blending women with different elements, which adds a classic touch to his modern approach.

Steyn's art is a beautiful fusion of classic and contemporary, and he's not afraid to explore new avenues.
